1. Who we are
PawCommunity is a community app for spotting, feeding, and rescuing stray animals. We are operated by PawCommunity ("we", "us", "our"). For questions, contact us at hello@pawcommunity.org.
2. Information we collect
We collect information you provide directly: your username, email address, and password when you create an account. When you report a stray animal, we collect your GPS coordinates and any photo you choose to upload. We do not collect any information without your knowledge.
3. Location data
PawCommunity requests access to your device location to show nearby stray animals, feeding points, and shelters, and to attach a location to your stray reports. Location is only accessed while the app is in use (foreground). We do not track your location in the background.
4. Camera
We request camera access solely so you can photograph stray animals when submitting a report. Photos are uploaded to secure cloud storage (Supabase) and are publicly visible to other community members to help identify and assist the animal.
5. Push notifications
With your permission, we send push notifications when a stray is spotted within your chosen radius. You can adjust your notification radius or disable notifications entirely in the app's Profile settings.
6. How we use your information
We use your information to: operate and improve the app, show you nearby stray animals and feeding points, send you alerts about animals in your area (with your permission), and allow the community to coordinate rescues. We do not sell your data to third parties.
7. Data storage and security
Your data is stored on Supabase infrastructure with row-level security enabled, meaning you can only access your own private data. Photos are stored in Supabase cloud storage. We use industry-standard encryption for data in transit and at rest.
8. Data retention
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. You can request deletion of your account and all associated data by emailing hello@pawcommunity.org. We will process deletion requests within 30 days.
9. Children's privacy
PawCommunity is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, please contact us.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via the app or by email. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
